Th350 Detent Cable Leak

Seems to me that the detent cable does.

Does it seem pssible that it could be losing that much fluid from this location when the car isn t even running. A new kickdown cable detent boot for the th350 and th350c. On both of my th350 s i have a rubber sleeve type seal on the cable. It had no sign of front or rear seal leakage so i replaced the filter and pan gasket and then test drove it for several days.

Joined mar 21 2000 4 213 posts 13 nov 5 2003. That makes it really easy to cap. In japan especially in the city there are so many traffic lights and stop signs that the kickdown can actually be completely removed. Please check to be sure your kickdown cable uses a boot type seal not an oring.

I would say it is about 3 8 tall slides over the plastic part that sticks in the trans. The kickdown cable port on the th350 transmission is a common issue. This week i decided to put an end to this leaky madness. So it s perfectly ok to remove it.

Some have just a square cut type o ring sometmes they dont fit right. The plastic cable mounts needs to be removed. I am about to replace the cable with a lokar braided cable. This boot is typically on th350s 1978 up but may also be found on earlier models.

It seems to leak a bunch of transmission fluid after setting for a period of time.
